Gunmen shoot dead medical doctor in Niger community

Some unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed a medical doctor in Salka village of Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.

Reports had it that the gunmen stormed the community at about 9:00 on Wednesday, June 16 targeting the medical personnel whose name is identified as Precious Emeka Chinedu.

TrillerTunes learnt that the bandits, five in numbers entered into Chinedu’s clinic demanding to see him. They reportedly kidnapped him and took him to an unknown location until his corpse was discovered many hours later.

A source in the village who shed more light on the incident told newsmen that Chinedu’s corpse was found by vigilante group.

He said: “When they took the Doctor away, we reported to the police and the local vigilante. The vigilante later called us the following day saying that they have seen a corpse inside the bush and we were able to identify that of the doctor”.

However, when contacted on the occurence, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Wasiu was unable to take calls and could not respond to text messages sent to him.

Reacting to the incident, the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Niger state President, Chief Emmanuel Ezeugo, appealed to relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the murder.

He lament the killing of Chinedu whom he described as a promising man.
