Oh, my Cardboard! The morning was cold, so I picked up my pullover and zipped up straight inserting the cardboard inside.
I tried to open the door without making a noise and tip-toed my way through the passage, opened the door and exhaled as I descended the stairs of the building. I got there and met her outside waiting for me. We were both stupid leaving those insides at risk of getting robbed.
We were in love! That’s all that matters. We just wanted to make it official. The best setting was never going to be in front of her house. We couldn’t talk in front of her house because the walls have ears, they say.
So, we walked down the street to the side of a church just in front of a shop. Her innocence was all over her face, it was my first time asking a lady out in her face and it was going to be her first time saying yes to a guy.
She tripled back in time to tell me some important things about her and I held her hand and told her to close her eyes. Then I muttered some of the right words she craves.
The exact words were, “I think this is real and true.… ”Remember that Miley Cyrus song? So I brought out the Cardboard and told her to open her eyes. She said you are a fool! We both laughed but I was waiting for her part of the confession.
I questioned her again, do you mean you are in love with a fool? And she said maybe he would stop being foolish but I love him! I could hear a loud yes in my head like the sound of Anfield when Steven Gerard scores against Everton. The derby joy!
We were young and sensible. Just holding hands back to her gate. No kissing, no hugging.
Jesus is Lord!
It is 6:50 am already.
What next, the first hurdle!
